iCOAST is a European Commission financed project under the instrument "Prevention Projects in Civil Protection", lauched in December 2013 with a duration of 2 years, implemented by a consortium of 7 partners led by Centro Internacional de Investigación de los Recursos Costeros (Spain). iCOAST is a tool that will forecast storm hazards (waves plus mean water level), predict it intensity and impact (risk) and give recommendations to help institutions to manage storm hazards in European coastal areas. iCOAST addresses coastal risks caused by extreme waves and high sea water levels, being used as a coastal early warning system to forecast storm events and as a tool to help in the decision making processes of the intervention for managers.
