On October 20 ITHACA started a 3-week specialization module on GIS and GPS systems for 3 Ethiopian trainees in the framework of the WATSAM project, coordinated by Hydroaid - Water for Development Management Institute.
Within the World Bank financed project MASDAP, ITHACA held a technical training session on Satellite-based Rapid Mapping in Lilongwe from September 29 to October 1.

The ISPRS Technical Commission VIII and the Indian Society of Remote Sensing are organising the ISPRS TC VIII Mid-Term Symposium 2014 , which will be held in Hyderabad, India on December 9-12, 2014.
For the first time Sentinel-1A satellite was operationally used to support emergency management operations in the Balkans, where prolonged heavy rainfalls and widespread flooding since the 15th of May 2014 triggered the declaration of the State of Emergency.
ITHACA, together with representatives from DLR, EC, SERTIT, UN-SPIDER and USGS, participated to the IWG-SEM meeting in Oberpfaffenhofen on 20-21 May 2014 and handed over the chairmanship role, which rotates nominally on a yearly basis, to DLR.
The GeoNode Project
A GeoNode application has been deployed to easily share and distribute spatial data through OGC standards. GeoNode includes cartography tools for styling and composing maps through the web, search data with the CSW open catalog standard and a PDF printing function.
